Electric Technician 

Position Summary:
Provides in-depth troubleshooting and analysis of drives and programmable logic controllers on facility equipment. Maintains current programs and documents for equipment; interfaces with engineering support from outside agencies that have commissioned equipment.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Perform quality analysis of field returns for components, subassemblies, and equipment
  • Apply advance technical knowledge of electronic and electrical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment to OEM standards
  • Diagnose and repair electrical problems with cranes and facilities
  • Repair spare drives for cranes
  • Respond to wharf/yard crane issues impacting production
  • Identify and correct problems with motor drives, and controllers, Troubleshooting and repair other electrical systems such as fiber optics, lighting systems, catholic protection, and medium voltage switchgear
  • Lead maintenance efforts and provide technical guidance to other technicians / crafts
  • Work required scheduled overtime hours and be available for unscheduled overtime when operating requirements or other business needs of Plant cannot be fulfilled during regular working hours
  • Work a temporary, alternative schedule or shift as requested by supervisor

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree in Electronics or related major from a public or accredited private academic institution required
  • 2+ years in a container handling environment and/or 5+ years in an electronic maintenance experience required
