Receiving Inspection / Inventory Clerk

Department: Operations – Shipping & Receiving Location: 77087 Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Pay: $20–$22.50 per hour

Position Summary

A dependable and detail‑oriented Receiving Inspection / Inventory Clerk is needed to support oilfield operations. This role is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, and assisting with shipping and logistics. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience in warehouse or inspection environments, and the ability to work efficiently in both outdoor and shop conditions.

Responsibilities

Receiving Inspection

  • Receive, unload, and stage incoming materials and equipment.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and measuring tape.
  • Identify and report damage, defects, or discrepancies.
  • Tag and label materials accurately for traceability.
  • Verify materials against purchase orders for correct quantity, thread type, and material specifications.
  • Communicate with production, purchasing, and sales regarding material arrivals and issues.
  • Maintain organized documentation and records in JobBOSS or similar ERP systems.

Thread Protector Inventory

  • Monitor and update protector inventory levels.
  • Notify purchasing when restocking is required.
  • Clean, organize, and stage protectors for upcoming jobs.
  • Verify incoming protectors against purchase orders.
  • Maintain proper labeling and storage by customer and job type.

Insert Inventory

  • Maintain accurate insert counts and daily usage logs.
  • Create and process purchase orders and receivers for proprietary inserts.
  • Separate and label customer‑owned inserts for return.
  • Collect and deliver scrap inserts to management three times weekly.
  • Coordinate with production to forecast upcoming insert needs.

Shipping & Material Handling

  • Assist with loading/unloading trucks and outbound shipments.
  • Wrap pallets, label shipments, and verify documentation.
  • Operate a forklift safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in receiving, inspection, or warehouse operations (oilfield experience preferred).
  • 2+ years of inventory experience (oilfield experience preferred).
  • Proficient with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measure).
  • Strong math and conversion skills (fractions, decimals, metric/imperial).
  • Ability to read and interpret basic part drawings.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems (JobBOSS preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor conditions.
  • Shop environment is not air‑conditioned.
  • Must be able to pass an eye exam.
