Position Overview

We are supporting a confidential healthcare organization in Southern California seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager – NICU to support clinical operations and nursing leadership within a high-acuity neonatal intensive care environment.

This role partners closely with nursing leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care, staff development, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily clinical and operational management of a NICU unit

  • Assist with implementation of patient care delivery models and best practices

  • Support staff supervision, scheduling, and appropriate resource allocation

  • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiatives

  • Assist with investigations related to patient, family, or care concerns

  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

  • Ensure adherence to clinical standards, policies, and regulatory requirements

  • Provide clinical oversight and support as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • BLS certification required

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU RN experience in a Level III or higher NICU

  • Minimum 1 year of formal nursing leadership experience

    (Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, etc.)

  • Associates degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare, or related field

  • Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN)

  • NICU specialty certifications (NRP, RNC-NIC)

  • Experience in acute care hospital environments

  • Experience supporting teams in unionized healthcare settings
