We are seeking an experienced Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide comprehensive perioperative patient care in collaboration with surgeons. This role plays a critical part in improving patient outcomes by assisting in surgeries, managing pre- and post-operative care, and ensuring continuity of care across various settings.

The PA/APRN will work closely with surgeons, either face-to-face or via telehealth, to conduct surgical history and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications. In the operating room, they will first-assist in surgeries and perform procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Additionally, this role involves inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic management, patient education, and on-call coverage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ️ First-assist in surgical procedures and perform surgical techniques under direct supervision.
  • Conduct surgical history & physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.
  • Manage pre-, intra-, and post-operative care to enhance surgical outcomes and patient safety.
  • Perform inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care, and bedside procedures.
  •  Manage outpatient clinics, perform minor procedures, and provide patient & family education.
  • Work closely with staff, administration, and families to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in grand rounds, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • On-call coverage for weekday, weeknight, and weekend surgical needs, requiring high-level decision-making.

Qualifications:

Education: Masters Degree required (PA or APRN)
Licenses & Certifications (Required):

  • For PA Candidates:

    • NCCPA Certification
    • Florida Physician Assistant License
    • DEA License (as per specialty)
  • For APRN Candidates:

    • Florida APRN License
    • National Certification in Surgical Specialty
    • DEA License (as per specialty)
