This is full-scope midwifery within a collaborative OB-GYN practice. You will care for patients in the outpatient setting, provide clinical leadership on Labor and Delivery, and work alongside OB-GYN physicians, nurses, behavioral health clinicians, lactation professionals, health coaches, and childbirth educators.

You will have meaningful clinical independence without being expected to carry every difficult situation alone.

From Prenatal Visits to Labor and Delivery

Your work may include:

  • Independently providing full-scope outpatient midwifery care
  • Delivering comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services
  • Caring for patients during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages
  • Providing in-house Labor and Delivery coverage
  • Evaluating and treating patients presenting for obstetric triage
  • Collaborating with OB-GYN physicians on complex and higher-acuity cases
  • Providing first-assist support during surgical procedures
  • Participating in clinical drills, skills training, and quality-improvement initiatives
  • Helping patients make informed decisions about their care

Schedules, call responsibilities, hospital partners, and patient volumes vary by location and will be discussed during the interview process.

The Midwife Who Will Thrive Here

You understand that clinical autonomy and collaboration are not opposites. You are comfortable making decisions independently, communicating directly, and involving the larger care team when the patient’s needs call for it.

You will need:

  • Active certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board
  • Current or obtainable Texas RN and APRN licenses
  • NRP and BLS certifications by your start date
  • Experience providing obstetric and gynecologic care
  • Hospital experience involving intrapartum, postpartum, and OB triage care
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
  • A patient-centered approach that respects individual preferences and shared decision-making

Two or more years of hospital-based midwifery experience is preferred.

Experience or certification in obstetric ultrasound, advanced fetal monitoring, lactation consultation, or first-assist support is especially valuable.

Support for the Work—and the Clinician Doing It

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • HSA or FSA options
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off
  • Paid parental leave
