Job Openings Founding Infrastructure/AI Engineering

About the job Founding Infrastructure/AI Engineering

We are building production software for teams working with complex AI systems and operational data. We are moving from prototype workflows into a reliable, secure, customer-facing platform.

We are looking for a Platform / Infrastructure Engineer to help build and operate the technical foundation of the company: backend services, infrastructure, deployment pipelines, observability, security, data storage, and the internal systems that let the product scale.

    The Role

You will own the platform layer behind Miraxis. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can design systems, ship production services, automate operations, and keep the platform reliable as usage grows.

You should be comfortable across backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, databases, queues, storage, CI/CD, and observability. The goal is to turn fast-moving product and research needs into a stable production system.

    What You'll Do

    • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, workers, and internal platform tools.
    • Design the infrastructure for secure file handling, structured metadata, background jobs, reports, and customer workspaces.
    • Own cloud deployment, CI/CD, environment management, secrets, configuration, and release processes.
    • Implement observability: logs, metrics, tracing, health checks, alerts, dashboards, and incident diagnostics.
    • Improve reliability, latency, scalability, and cost efficiency across services, databases, storage, and workers.
    • Build access control, tenant isolation, audit trails, data retention controls, and operational safeguards.
    • Maintain database schemas, migrations, backups, and recovery paths.
    • Create developer tooling that makes local development, testing, deployment, and debugging faster.
    • Work with product and engineering leadership to define platform boundaries and production architecture.
    • Document operational decisions, runbooks, and system design clearly.

    What We're Looking For

We care more about your ability to build and operate reliable systems than any single cloud vendor or tool; if you've done this in an equivalent stack, we'd love to hear from you.

    • Strong backend/platform engineering experience.
    • Strong experience with cloud infrastructure: AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent.
    • Production experience with Docker, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation.
    • Strong database experience, especially PostgreSQL; experience with Redis, queues, and object storage is a plus.
    • Experience building APIs, workers, async jobs, scheduled tasks, and long-running processing systems.
    • Practical observability experience with tools such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, or similar.
    • Strong security instincts around secrets, auth, permissions, customer data, and operational access.
    • Ability to debug across application code, infrastructure, networking, storage, and runtime behavior.
    • Good judgment about when to build simple systems and when to introduce more robust infrastructure.

    Nice To Have

    • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
    • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, data platforms, or workflow orchestration.
    • Experience with SOC 2 readiness, audit logging, RBAC, or enterprise customer security expectations.
    • Experience handling large files, media, structured logs, or high-volume processing pipelines.
    • Experience with Kubernetes, ECS, Temporal, Airflow, Dagster, or similar orchestration systems.

    What Success Looks Like

    • The platform is reliable, observable, and easy to operate.
    • Engineers can develop, test, and deploy without fighting the environment.
    • Customer data and artifacts are handled securely and predictably.
    • Failures are diagnosable instead of mysterious.
    • New product workflows can be added without rebuilding the whole system.
    • Infrastructure decisions reduce long-term engineering drag.

    Why Join

This is an early, high-leverage infrastructure role. You will shape how Miraxis builds, deploys, secures, monitors, and scales its platform from the beginning.

You will not just maintain infrastructure. You will define the production backbone of the company.

    Interview Process

    1. Intro call on background, motivation, and operating style.
    2. Technical deep dive on systems you have built and operated.
    3. Architecture exercise focused on production platform design.
    4. Final working session with the team.
