Senior General QA Engineer

BiScience is looking for a seasoned Senior QA Engineer with strong automation skills to join our backend team, responsible for managing and optimizing APIs for a range of client applications, including mobile, desktop, and browser extensions, serving a user base of over 5 million and handling high-load data processing. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, performance, and reliability of our APIs, which directly impact user experience and business operations.

What will you do

• Own QA processes for backend systems, improving quality and reliability across services
  
• Test backend APIs with a focus on business logic, contract validation, andperformance under load
• Develop and maintain automated API tests (Java preferred)
• Maintain test plans, checklists, and QA documentation
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and Product Managers to ensure coverage of features and edge cases
• Investigate issues in staging and production, contributing to root cause analysis
  
• Champion quality across the entire development lifecycle

Requirements

• 4+ years in QA, including 2+ years in backend/API testing
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and client-server architecture
• Experience with API testing automation (Postman / RestAssured)
• Solid SQL and database knowledge (both relational and NoSQL)
• Comfortable working in Linux environments; familiarity with Docker
• Experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and test integration
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
  

Will be a plus

• Experience with performance/load testing (e.g., JMeter)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Knowledge of payment systems or payment provider integrations
