Position Overview:
The IT Network Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting the restaurants computer systems and network infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of both wired and wireless networks, POS systems, security systems, and other tech equipment used by the restaurant staff. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise and customer service skills to provide seamless support in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Maintenance and Support:
- Configure, monitor, and maintain the restaurant's wired and wireless network systems (including routers, switches, and access points).
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, and resolve problems with internet service or internal networks.
- Ensure strong, secure Wi-Fi connectivity for staff and customers.
- POS System Support:
- Manage and troubleshoot Point of Sale (POS) systems used in the restaurant for order taking, billing, and payment processing.
- Install, configure, and upgrade POS terminals and software.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for POS system issues or upgrades.
- Security Systems:
- Support and maintain surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems.
- Ensure the restaurants network and data security by monitoring and implementing cybersecurity measures (firewalls, VPNs, antivirus, etc.).
- Hardware and Software Installation:
- Install and configure workstations, printers, and other hardware required for restaurant operations.
- Maintain and update restaurant-specific software such as reservation systems, inventory management tools, and communication platforms.
- Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
- Provide timely on-site and remote troubleshooting support to staff for any network, POS, or hardware-related issues.
- Document and escalate unresolved issues to higher-level IT staff or external vendors.
- System Upgrades and Backups:
- Ensure regular system backups of critical data, including POS transactions, reservations, and customer information.
- Assist with software updates and hardware replacements to ensure the restaurant's technology is up-to-date.
- User Training:
- Train staff on the proper use of restaurant technology, including POS systems, network access, and general troubleshooting procedures.
- Vendor Management:
- Communicate and coordinate with external IT vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate's or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, etc.) are a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in IT support, network administration, or systems management, preferably in a hospitality or restaurant environment.
- Experience with POS systems and network troubleshooting is highly desirable.
