Estimation Engineer-Manager
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Estimation Engineer to join our team for a building construction project. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and providing vital input for tendering and project execution. This role plays a critical part in ensuring competitive pricing and profitability for construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and technical documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Quantify materials, labor, equipment, and other project costs using estimation software or manual methods.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative solutions where applicable.
Tender Preparation
- Prepare and submit competitive tenders and bids based on the company's standards and client requirements.
- Liaise with procurement, engineering, and other departments to gather necessary information for tender submissions.
- Ensure tender documents comply with client and regulatory requirements.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
- Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.
Risk Analysis
- Identify potential project risks and incorporate contingency plans into estimates.
- Provide input on project feasibility, budget constraints, and profitability analysis.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, tender submissions, and cost-related data.
- Prepare detailed estimation reports for management review and decision-making.
- Update and manage a database of historical cost data for future reference.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to refine project scopes and budgets.
- Address client queries regarding estimation details and pricing breakdowns.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Experience
- 15-18 years of experience in cost estimation within the construction industry.
- Familiarity with large-scale construction projects, including infrastructure, commercial, or residential developments.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera, CostX) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of local market rates, industry standards, and UAE-specific construction regulations (if applicable).
