Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of 4PL – Subcontracting Division to lead and grow our subcontracted transport operations. This is a senior role focused on managing third-party transporters, optimising routes, and ensuring seamless end-to-end logistics execution across key corridors, with a strong emphasis on the Beira Corridor.

The ideal candidate will bring deep operational knowledge of transport subcontracting, strong relationships within the logistics ecosystem, and hands-on experience working with customs clearing processes, which is critical to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the 4PL subcontracting division, overseeing all outsourced transport operations.

• Build, manage, and optimise a reliable network of subcontracted transporters.

• Identify opportunities to subcontract freight efficiently based on route, capacity, cost, and service reliability.

• Manage transport flows along key trade routes, with proven experience on the Beira Corridor.

• Work closely with clearing agents and internal teams to ensure smooth customs clearance and border processes.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, customs, and transport requirements.

• Negotiate rates, contracts, and service-level agreements with subcontractors.

• Monitor performance, costs, turnaround times, and service quality of subcontracted partners.

• Resolve operational issues, delays, and escalations in a proactive and solutions-driven manner.

• Support business growth by enabling scalable, cost-effective subcontracting strategies.

Key Requirements

• Extensive experience in the transport and logistics industry, ideally within a 4PL or subcontracting-heavy environment.

• Strong customs clearing experience (non-negotiable).

• Demonstrated hands-on experience operating along the Beira Corridor.

• Proven track record of working with and managing subcontracted transporters.

• Strong understanding of regional transport dynamics, border processes, and corridor-specific challenges.

• Excellent negotiation, coordination, and relationship management skills.

• Operationally strong with a commercial mindset.

• Based in Harare or willing to be based in Harare.

• Zimbabwean national.
