Engineering Manager

A fast-growing technology company is seeking an Engineering Manager to build and lead a high-performing product engineering team. This role requires strong technical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create an environment where engineers consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.

You will work closely with product, engineering, and data/AI teams to translate customer problems into clear execution plans, drive delivery, and improve operational maturity as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Delivery

• Lead a team of engineers to deliver high-impact features end-to-end

• Own team execution including planning, prioritisation, delivery forecasting, and stakeholder communication

• Foster a culture of high standards, ownership, and continuous improvement

• Run agile processes such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives while maintaining delivery quality

Technical Direction & Quality

• Partner with senior engineers to drive strong system design and architecture decisions

• Ensure engineering best practices across code quality, testing, security, performance, and operational readiness

• Improve reliability and operational maturity through service ownership, incident response improvements, and observability

People Management

• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while supporting career growth

• Run performance cycles that are fair, direct, and development-focused

• Maintain a healthy team culture with strong communication and accountability

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner with product and engineering teams to shape the roadmap and prioritise high-impact work

• Align stakeholders across engineering, product, security, and customer-facing teams

• Communicate clearly on delivery progress, risks, and decisions

Requirements

• 3+ years experience managing software engineering teams

• 7+ years experience working in software engineering environments

• Experience delivering and operating production-grade services with strong reliability and security expectations

• Strong technical judgment across modern web and distributed systems architectures

Technical Environment
Experience with parts of a modern stack such as React (TypeScript), Python-based APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS or Azure, along with operational practices including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and continuous improvement.
