Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will play a key role in overseeing financial management, reporting, and capital management activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives and drive sustainable growth.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze key metrics, and provide insights to senior management for decision-making.
- Manage financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Present financial results, analysis, and forecasts to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Capital Management:
- Manage capital resources efficiently to optimize returns and support strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and make recommendations to senior management based on risk and return considerations.
- Monitor capital adequacy and liquidity levels to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain effective internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address any findings.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop finance staff, ensuring their professional growth and readiness to take on increasing responsibilities.
- Promote a positive work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MIA designation preferred.
- Proven experience within the insurance or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
