Project Engineer

Our client is a full service, Structured Cabling / Systems / Network Integration company that specializes in providing complete technology solutions for commercial offices and data centers. 

They are seeking for Project Engineer for managing and coordinating Telecommunication, ICT, and ELV system projects in Malaysia, ensuring works are executed in compliance with local regulations, approved drawings, project specifications, safety requirements, and client expectations, within agreed timelines and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

1. Assist the Project Manager in project planning, implementation, and coordination of Telecom/ICT/ELV works.
2. Manage and supervise site activities to ensure construction works follow:
• Approved shop drawings
• Method statements
• Project specifications and contracts
3. Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, main contractors, and authorities.

Technical Supervision (ELV / ICT Systems)

Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of systems including:

• Structured Cabling System (Copper & Fiber Optic).
• CCTV & Video Surveillance Systems.
• Access Control System (ACS).
• Intrusion & Alarm Systems.
• Public Address (PA), Intercom, and Nurse Call Systems.
• MATV / IPTV.
• LAN, Wi‑Fi, and Network Infrastructure.
• PABX / IP Telephony Systems.
• Integration of ELV systems with BMS / IBS (where applicable).

Review and prepare:

• Technical submissions.
• Material approvals.
• Shop drawings (AutoCAD).

Site Coordination & Supervision:

• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, installers, and technicians.
• Liaise with other trades (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) to resolve site clashes.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality, workmanship, and safety compliance.

Ensure compliance with:

• CIDB and DOSH safety requirements.
• Company HSE policies.
• Site Safety Plans and Toolbox Meetings.

Authority & Regulatory Compliance (Malaysia)

Coordinate submissions and site matters with relevant local authorities and utility providers, where applicable:

• TM (Telekom Malaysia).
• MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).
• Local councils (PBT).
• Ensure works comply with applicable standards such as:
• TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC.
• SIRIM / Malaysian Standards (MS).
• Industry best practices for ELV systems.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Coordinate system testing, commissioning, and acceptance tests.
• Prepare documentation including:
• Test results and commissioning reports.
• As‑built drawings.
• Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
• Support project handover and client training where required.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare and maintain:
• Daily / weekly progress reports.
• Site instructions and technical clarifications.
• Variation order (VO) technical support.
• Update project progress, risks, and issues to Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in:
• Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
• Telecommunication Engineering.
• Information Technology / Computer Engineering.
• Or equivalent technical discipline.

• 1–5 years' experience in Telecom / ICT / ELV project implementation in Malaysia.
• Exposure to commercial, residential, industrial, or data center projects is an advantage.
• Fresh graduates may be considered for Junior Project Engineer roles.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

• Good understanding of:
• ELV system design and installation practices
• Fiber optic termination, testing (OTDR basic knowledge preferred)
• Passive and active network components
• Software skills:
• AutoCAD (mandatory)
• MS Office
• MS Project / Primavera (advantage)

Certifications & Licenses (Advantage)

• CIDB Green Card (highly preferred).
• BICSI / FOA certifications.
• Safety certifications (OSHA / DOSH related).
• Valid Class D driving licence.

Language & Communication

• Proficient in English.
• Able to communicate in Bahasa Malaysia.
• Mandarin/Cantonese (advantage, site coordination or client‑dependent).
