Position Overview

The Plant Manager will oversee the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and efficiently while adhering to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role requires someone with a strong technical background and leadership capabilities, particularly in managing glass furnaces and working in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

1.Production Management

  • Oversee all aspects of production, including scheduling, quality control, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • Implement measures to optimize production output and minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and inventory targets.
  • Ensure smooth operation and management of glass furnaces, optimizing production in a hot and dusty environment.

2.Team Leadership

  • Lead and motivate a team of 20-30 production staff, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Manage performance of direct reports to ensure alignment with company goals.

3.Resource Management

  • Manage inventory levels, procurement, and supply chain activities to support production requirements.
  • Optimize use of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to maximize productivity and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all plant operations.
  • Implement cost-effective strategies to enhance production capacity while minimizing operational costs.

4.Performance Monitoring and Improvement

  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track plant performance.
  • Analyze production data and trends to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies.

5.Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance, to achieve production goals and resolve issues.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management on plant performance, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports to the Manufacturing Director and CEO, offering insight into plant performance and recommending operational adjustments when necessary.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in Managing Glass Furnaces: A critical requirement for this role is the ability to oversee operations related to glass furnace production.
  • Career Level: Open to candidates with experience as Senior Process Engineer or higher.
  • Working Environment: Willingness to work in a hot and dusty environment.
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to manage a team of 20-30 people.
  • Reporting Structure: Directly reports to the Manufacturing Director and CEO.
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 years of experience in plant operations, preferably within the glass or related manufacturing industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a keen understanding of production processes.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting.
