Job Overview:

Our Client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced academic leader to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, academic excellence, and operational efficiency for the faculty. The Dean will oversee curriculum development, accreditation processes, faculty management, student engagement, and industry collaboration. A strong understanding of Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) requirements and other regulatory frameworks is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Faculty of Business Management, ensuring alignment with University's mission and Malaysia's higher education policies.
  • Oversee academic program development, faculty recruitment, research strategies, and student success initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with MQA, MOHE, and other relevant accreditation bodies for business program accreditation and governance.
  • Foster a culture of academic excellence, research innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Promote business ethics, sustainability, and global best practices in education and research.
  • Establish partnerships with industries, research institutions, and government agencies to enhance business education and employability

Academic Program Development & Accreditation

  • Oversee the development, review, and accreditation of business programs (e.g., Finance, Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship, and Data Analytics).
  • Ensure all business programs meet the standards set by MQA and international accreditation bodies (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS).
  • Implement and monitor Outcome-Based Education (OBE) frameworks to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Develop and introduce new business programs, ensuring relevance to industry needs, technological advancements, and global trends.
  • Work with faculty members to continuously enhance curricula, laboratory facilities, and research capabilities.

Faculty Development & Research Excellence

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain highly qualified faculty members with expertise in business education and research.
  • Encourage faculty members to engage in research, consultancy, and industrial collaborations.
  • Promote faculty involvement in publishing research in Scopus-indexed journals, securing grants, and participating in professional societies.
  • Organize faculty development programs to improve pedagogical skills, research capabilities, and industry engagement.

Industry Engagement & Student Employability

  • Establish partnerships with corporations, professional bodies, and government agencies to enhance student employability.
  • Develop internship programs, corporate training modules, and professional certification courses.
  • Work with career placement services to ensure graduates achieve high employability rates.
  • Promote industry-driven projects, competitions, and real-world problem-solving experiences for students.

Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship

  • Promote business research and innovation aligned with Malaysias digital economy, financial technology (FinTech), and sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with industries, government, and international universities for funded research projects and technology transfer.
  • Ensure faculty and students contribute to patents, intellectual property (IP) rights, and research publications.
  • Encourage participation in national and international business research conferences and entrepreneurship summits.

Student Development & Academic Excellence

  • Design new strategies for student admissions, academic performance, and overall learning experiences.
  • Implement mentorship and academic advising programs to guide students in career and research paths.
  • Support student-led business clubs, professional societies, innovation challenges, and leadership programs.
  • Promote student involvement in business competitions, case study challenges, and community-based business projects.

Financial Sustainability & Resource Management

  • Develop strategies to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of the Faculty of Business Management.
  • Manage the facultys budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation for research facilities, faculty development, and student programs.
  • Secure grants, sponsorships, and funding from government agencies and industry partners.
  • Oversee the development of high-quality online, blended, and executive education programs.

Ethics, Sustainability & National Policies Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with national policies such as the Malaysian Education Blueprint (Higher Education) and the National Policy on Entrepreneurship.
  • Promote business ethics, corporate governance, and sustainability practices in business education and research.
  • Implement Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives supporting Malaysias Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Professional Certification & Graduate Development

  • Establish pathways for students to earn professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, CIMA, ACCA, Six Sigma, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics).
  • Develop structured collaborations with certification bodies and industry players.
  • Promote entrepreneurial skills and startup incubators for business students.
  • Strengthening Technical & Vocational Pathways (TVET) & Lifelong Learning
  • Develop and expand Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) pathways within business programs.
  • Promote micro-credentials, part-time business programs, and executive education for lifelong learning.
  • Strengthen partnerships with TVET institutions, polytechnics, and skills development centers.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Accreditation & Compliance: Successful MQA, MOHE, and international accreditation.
  • Graduate Employability: Increased job placement rates, internships, and industry engagement.
  • Research & Industry Grants: Growth in research funding, publications, and patents.
  • Faculty & Student Excellence: Enhanced teaching quality, faculty research output, and student project innovations.
  • Financial Growth & Sustainability: Efficient budget management and revenue-generating programs.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A PhD in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or HRM/OB or any related field from a recognized institution.
  • At least 10 years of academic experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role such as Dean, Associate Dean, or Head of Department.
  • Strong knowledge of MQA accreditation standards, curriculum design, and academic governance in Malaysia.
  • Proven experience in research, publication, and securing research funding.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in fostering industry-academic partnerships and collaborations.
  • Ability to manage budgets, faculty performance, and student affairs efficiently.
  • A forward-thinking and innovative mindset to drive the faculty towards global recognition.
