About the job Head Power Plant Project - Mining - Liberia - West Africa
Position Summary:
As the Head Power Plant Project, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, from evaluation, selection, planning to commissioning of 400+ MW Power plants across the mines in a phase-wise manner.
The role is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of the project within the timeline and budget while adhering to the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of various power sourcing options based on CAPEX, OPEX, ESG, location, fuel sourcing, logistics and risk aspects.
- Selection of suitable and feasible power options and establish execution plan.
- Lead the power sourcing projects from conceptualization to completion.
- Prioritise renewal energy sourcing in the entire project, wherever possible.
- Integrate and synchronise the power projects with the other projects such as concentration plants, logistics network and port infrastructure.
- Oversee the design and engineering activities to ensure the highest engineering standards, the latest innovative technologies, and compliance with Vedantas standards.
- Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to keep the projects on track.
- Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, such as senior management, contractors, regulatory bodies, and community representatives.
- Manage the project budget, ensuring that expenditures are within approved limits.
- Manage the performance of partners to drive successful implementation of the projects.
- Oversee construction activities through regular inspection and establishing systems and processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and best practices to drive innovation and operational excellence - Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in project management of large-scale Power Plant projects
- Knowledge of various types of power plants such as Thermal, Gas based, Hydro, Solar and Wind.
- Innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to devise creative solutions for complex challenges.
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring and guiding a team.
- Familiarity with Liberian regulations, standards, and best practices is advantageous.
