Our client, an international Mining company, has a seasoned and culturally attuned Head of Security to lead their security operations in the dynamic environment of Liberia. This role is crucial in safeguarding our assets, personnel, and operations within the unique socio-political landscape of West Africa. We are looking for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of the region's cultural nuances, regulatory frameworks, and security challenges to develop and implement robust security strategies, protocols, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific risks and challenges.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and threat analyses to identify vulnerabilities and formulate proactive mitigation plans aligned with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to ensure security initiatives are integrated into overall business strategies and objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of advanced physical security measures, including state-of-the-art access control systems, perimeter security, surveillance technologies, and manned guarding, to safeguard company assets and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with local security regulations, international standards, and industry best practices to mitigate risks and prevent unauthorized access, theft, or intrusion.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to assess the effectiveness of security measures and recommend improvements as necessary.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a diverse team of security personnel, providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to perform their duties with excellence and professionalism.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs on security protocols, emergency response procedures, crisis management, and conflict resolution to enhance the readiness and effectiveness of the security team.
  • Foster a culture of vigilance, accountability, and integrity among security staff, emphasizing respect for human rights, ethical conduct, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain robust crisis management and emergency response plans to address a wide range of security incidents, including natural disasters, civil unrest, terrorist threats, and industrial accidents.
  • Establish clear lines of communication and coordination with local authorities, emergency services, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a swift and effective response to security threats and emergencies.
  • Conduct regular drills, simulations, and exercises to test the readiness and capabilities of the security team and other key personnel in managing crises and mitigating risks.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, government agencies, law enforcement authorities, and other stakeholders to foster trust, cooperation, and support for security initiatives.
  • Participate actively in community engagement activities, corporate social responsibility programs, and public awareness campaigns to promote security awareness, crime prevention, and community resilience.

Qualifications & Eligibility:

  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in security management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role in a dynamic and challenging environment, preferably in West Africa. Experience in the Army or Police will be an added advantage.
  • Deep understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies, with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective security strategies and protocols.
  • Thorough knowledge of Liberian security regulations, laws, and industry standards, with the ability to navigate the local political, cultural, and social landscape effectively.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of security professionals.
  • Certification in security management, risk assessment, crisis management, or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, respect for human rights, and the principles of corporate social responsibility in all aspects of security operations.
