Our client is a prominent mining company dedicated to sustainable and responsible resource extraction in Liberia. They are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Slurry Pipeline professional to join their team. This endeavour is pivotal in strengthening logistics capabilities and contributing to West Africa's regional development.
Position Summary:
As the Head Project Slurry Pipeline, the incumbent will play a critical role in overseeing the conceptualisation, design, planning, construction, and commissioning of the desired slurry pipeline to move 30 MTPA of iron ore at the mines, Liberia, from mining sites to Ports. The role is crucial in ensuring the successful execution of the projects, adhering to the highest standards of safety and quality, and ensuring ESG compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize by developing comprehensive scope & objectives, evaluate & optimize timelines and resource requirements, and design logistics by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver cost-effective and reliable solutions that meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Apply knowledge of slurry pipeline systems, including design principles, materials selection, and construction techniques, to optimize project outcomes.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, and other project documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Embrace newer technologies, digitalization & innovation, benchmarking & analytics to enhance project efficiency and progress.
- Plan, monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
- Participate in design and engineering reviews to ensure that designs meet project specifications, industry best practices and local regulatory requirements.
- Prepare permit applications and liaise with Government regulatory authorities and relevant departments/stakeholders to obtain approvals for the project.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory permissions from appropriate authorities.
- Play a vital role in acquiring the right of way and land for the slurry pipeline infrastructure.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure the integrity and reliability of pipeline infrastructure.
- Identify social concerns, resolve them, and foster good relations and rapport with local communities and stakeholders.
- Uphold strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify best-in-class partners, evaluate and benchmark them and work closely with the commercial team to secure their services.
- Manage the performance of partners to drive successful implementation of the project.
- Manage the contractual relations effectively.
- Oversee construction activities through regular inspection and establishing systems and processes.
- Meet cost and timeline targets.
Qualifications:
- B.E. Mechanical/Metallurgy/Mineral Processing with over 10 years of relevant experience managing slurry pipeline projects.
- Hands-on experience with all project phases, including the feasibility study, design and engineering, contract management, and construction management.
- Innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to devise creative solutions for complex challenges.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in slurry pipeline systems.
- Sound knowledge of engineering principles, construction methodologies, and regulatory requirements related to slurry pipeline projects.
- Persuasive leadership style.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey intricate technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring and guiding a team.
- Familiarity with Liberian regulations, standards, and best practices is advantageous.
- Verbal and written proficiency in English is mandatory.
