One of our esteemed international clients, a leader in the mining industry, is seeking skilled Field Technicians with experience working with heavy equipment to join their team. With a reputation for excellence, they are looking for experienced professionals with open cast experience to ensure the optimal performance of their heavy mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of Environmental and Health and Safety performance. Identify and report risks, near misses, and incidents, contributing to the development and adherence to excellent safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy mining equipment and ancillary equipment used in open pit coal mining, including shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Respond to mechanical issues both in the maintenance shop and in the field.
  • Utilize hand tools, air and impact tools, sledgehammers, hydraulic torque equipment, and operate materials handling equipment such as hydraulic jacks, hoists, chains, overhead cranes, and forklifts to perform repairs.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Red Seal Certification (Heavy Duty Equipment Technician) preferred.
  • High School Certificate.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a heavy equipment repair apprenticeship program or a combination of over 4 years of work experience and industry courses.
  • 3-5 years of mining experience with hands-on repair of haul trucks, shovels, excavators, and other heavy equipment.
  • Experience with OEM troubleshooting guides and systems preferred. Familiarity with creating parts lists from OEM web-based systems such as Caterpillar SIS is a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Technical Competencies & Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively in both shop and field environments.
  • Willingness to work 12-hour day and night shifts on a 7x7 rotation.
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the capability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of mining processes and mine monitoring control systems (operations and maintenance).
  • Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Proven safety and attendance record.
  • Knowledge of computer maintenance systems.
