Our esteemed client is a prominent mining company operating in Liberia, spanning three significant mines: Bea, Bomi, and Mano. These unique mining assets are set to be further enhanced by world-class concentrator plants, designed to convert magnetite ore into high-grade premium iron ore. Additionally, significant logistics solutions and state-of-the-art port infrastructure will support their operations, solidifying their position as a leader in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the civil engineering and construction aspects of the Concentrator
- Plant Project, including developing comprehensive engineering plans, specifications, and layouts for civil structures and facilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, Project Design Engineer/architects, and senior engineers to integrate civil engineering designs harmoniously with other project disciplines.
- Provide guidance and direction to junior engineers and technical staff, overseeing their work and ensuring compliance with project objectives and industry standards.
- Conduct thorough design reviews, risk assessments, and safety evaluations, proactively identifying potential challenges and proposing effective solutions.
- Work closely with procurement teams to select appropriate materials, equipment, and suppliers for civil construction, considering factors like durability, cost- effectiveness, and project requirements.
- Supervise construction activities, ensuring civil structures are erected according to project specifications, local regulations, and industry best practices.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, and validation of civil structures, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to ensure their integrity and functionality.
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures and schedules to ensure the long-term reliability and performance of civil structures and facilities.
- Monitor project progress, prepare regular status reports, and communicate updates to project stakeholders, highlighting key milestones and potential risks.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in civil engineering, and best practices to drive innovation and operational excellence.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- At least 5 - 7 of relevant experience in civil engineering, with significant exposure to mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects.
- Proficiency in utilizing CAD software and other relevant design tools for civil engineering and project management.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, including structural design, geotechnical analysis, and construction methods.
- Experience in project management principles, including schedule management, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Innovative problem-solving skills with the ability to devise creative solutions for intricate technical challenges.
- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
- Familiarity with Liberian mining regulations, standards, and best practices is advantageous.
- Professional certification or licensure in civil engineering is preferred.
