About the job Head of Community Relations - Mining - Liberia
Our client is a prominent mining company dedicated to sustainable and responsible resource extraction in Liberia. They are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Community Relations professional to join their team. This endeavour is pivotal in strengthening logistics capabilities and contributing to West Africa's regional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement robust community engagement strategies aimed at building trust, transparency, and collaboration with local communities.
- Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and residents through consistent communication, active participation, and genuine empathy.
- Act as a bridge between the company and the community, proactively addressing concerns, facilitating constructive dialogue, and advocating for the community's interests within the organization.
- Forge strategic partnerships and alliances with government agencies, local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to identify common goals, pool resources, and implement impactful initiatives for community development.
- Facilitate multi-stakeholder engagements and collaborative projects that empower communities, enhance social cohesion, and promote sustainable development in alignment with the company's objectives.
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans to effectively convey objectives, activities, and commitments to the local community and wider stakeholders.
- Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to disseminate information, gather feedback, and foster inclusive decision-making processes on matters affecting the community and the company's operations.
- Utilize diverse communication channels, including digital platforms, traditional media, and grassroots networks, to ensure broad outreach and engagement with community members.
- Identify opportunities and prioritize community development projects and initiatives that address the most pressing needs and aspirations of the local population.
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community development programs across various sectors such as education, healthcare, Agriculture, infrastructure, and other livelihood enhancement, ensuring alignment with community priorities and sustainable development goals.
Qualifications & Eligibility :
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or related roles, preferably within the extractive industry or corporate sector.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing community relations programs, including proven expertise in community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable development.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with a genuine passion for fostering positive relationships and driving social change.
- Strong analytical acumen and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a strategic mindset and a commitment to delivering tangible results in complex and dynamic environments.
- In-depth understanding of the socio-cultural, economic, and political dynamics of Liberia, with the ability to navigate challenges and opportunities within this context.
