Role and Purpose

ACET is seeking to recruit a Research Analyst/PACT Coordinator who will conduct research, support program activities, business development, and other activities that the YES team engages in within the program. The focus of these activities will be on using analysis to generate research products on youth and demographics, employment in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) and key skill development mechanisms to enable Africa to move towards a 4IR-ready labour force. These research products can then provide the analytical underpinning for the YES teams advisory engagements with government agencies and other stakeholders and can also provide inputs into ACETs broader advocacy platforms such as the Africa Transformation Forum (ATF) and Pan-African Coalition for Transformation (PACT). The individual will also serve as the focal point for the YES chapter of the PACT platform, coordinating activities for partners in 6 African countries Ghana, Niger, Uganda, Rwanda, Cote dIvoire and Ethiopia.

Job Summary

The position holder will conduct research and be involved in other support activities towards delivering the YES/PACT program.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Research key Youth, Employment and Skills areas such as secondary education and TVET.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends in relation to education systems and the labour market.
  • Serve as the focal point for the YES-PACT platform, coordinating all YES-PACT activities
  • Contribute to the YES/YES-PACT Work Plans for the ACET Team and Research Partners
  • Work with the ACET Programme Manager to manage project activities on ACETs management information software
  • Coordinate ACET YES events with support from the events and communications teams in ACET
  • Conduct basic statistical analysis
  • Provide research analysis to support business development
  • Develop client presentations and other written deliverables

Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in support of ACETs mission.

Education/Experience

  • Masters degree in Economics or related Social Science field.
  • At least three years relevant experience working on youth employment and or education/skills development programmes
  • Experience as a research analyst will be an advantage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good knowledge of youth employment issues and good understanding of economic fundamentals
  • Very good analytical and writing skills
  • Familiarity with basic statistical analysis
  • Ability to prepare decent reports, policy briefs, blogs, etc.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work without supervision
  • Good project management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
  • Good presentation skills
  • Fast-learner and ability to multi-task

Personal

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and communicate with colleagues at all levels and from different cultures
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure to deliver on time with attention to detail and accuracy

Essential

  • Working knowledge of French
