About the job Mechanical Estimator
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our HVAC team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for quantity takeoffs, cost estimation, and bid preparation for HVAC projects. They must have a strong background in mechanical systems and be proficient with estimation software, including Mitsubishi Diamond System Builder, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel. The estimator will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimations for HVAC projects.
Utilize Mitsubishi Diamond System Builder Software for system design and estimation.
Use estimation software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel for takeoffs and bid preparation.
Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to determine scope and cost. Develop detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and equipment. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop accurate bids. Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing on materials. Ensure timely submission of bids and proposals to meet deadlines.
Track and analyze market trends to maintain competitive pricing.
Assist in value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality. Requirements:
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the HVAC industry.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical codes, and industry standards. Proficiency in Mitsubishi Diamond System Builder, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Excel. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Strong analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost estimation.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Experience with HVAC project management and design.
Knowledge of local and national building codes.
