My client is seeking two Senior Carers to join their dedicated team, covering day shifts from 07:00 to 19:15 hrs. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality care while fostering a warm and supportive environment for residents.

Position Details:

  • Hours: Shifts are 07:00 to 19:15 hrs, alternating between a 3-day week and a 4-day week.
  • Pay Rate: £12.30 per hour, increasing in April.

Main Purpose of the Role:

As a Senior Carer, you will play a key role in planning, implementing, and supervising the provision of quality care, ensuring that residents maintain their dignity and individuality. You will also contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Deputy/Home Manager in maintaining high standards of care and a positive home environment.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and contribute to the efficient running of the home.
  • Supervise and support care staff, addressing any performance concerns as needed.
  • Lead and participate in staff meetings, ensuring open communication and feedback.
  • Conduct thorough handovers between shifts for continuity of care.
  • Administer medication in line with policies and procedures, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to arrange appointments and maintain care plans.
  • Assess new residents for suitability and facilitate smooth admissions.

Care Delivery and Planning

  • Participate in resident care assessments and create personalised care plans.
  • Update and review care plans regularly to reflect residents' changing needs.
  • Support residents with personal care and daily living activities.
  • Encourage residents to make decisions regarding their own care and lifestyle.
  • Supervise mealtime service, ensuring nutritional needs are met.
  • Promote engagement in social activities within the home and community.

Training and Development

  • Ensure personal and team training requirements are met, including mandatory training.
  • Support the induction, supervision, and development of care staff.
  • Provide induction for agency staff working at the home.

What Were Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a senior care role within a care home setting.
  • Skills: Leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Compassion: A genuine passion for caring for others and enhancing residents' quality of life.
