Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Deputy Childrens Home Manager to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to children and young people in a safe, nurturing environment. As the Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Childrens Home Manager in day-to-day operations, leading a team of carers, and ensuring high standards of care and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support: Assist the Childrens Home Manager in the management and operational aspects of the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Leadership and Staff Supervision: Support, mentor, and supervise staff members, ensuring that the team provides the highest standard of care. Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Child-Centered Care: Help ensure children and young people receive individual care tailored to their needs, promoting their emotional, social, and educational development.
- Safeguarding and Risk Management: Lead by example in promoting safeguarding procedures, assessing risks, and responding appropriately to any incidents, concerns, or complaints.
- Staff Development: Contribute to the recruitment, training, and development of staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver excellent care.
- Record Keeping and Documentation: Oversee accurate and timely documentation of daily activities, incidents, and progress reports, in line with regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all procedures adhere to the required legal and regulatory frameworks, including Ofsted regulations, the Childrens Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Collaborative Working: Work closely with external agencies, including social workers, schools, and healthcare providers, to ensure the needs of the children are met holistically.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to manage emergencies and lead the team in crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a childrens care setting, preferably in residential care.
- Education: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential. A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the regulatory framework governing childrens residential care, including safeguarding, child development, and therapeutic approaches to care.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire a team while managing challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
