Are you a storyteller, an Arctic adventurer or someone who knows how to turn a great tour into an unforgettable memory?

Æventyr is looking for some more skilled and passionate winter guides for the 2026/2027 season in Alta, Northern Norway.

We are building a diverse guide team and are particularly interested in people with guiding experience or strong competence within:

• Northern Lights
• Whale & wildlife
• Snowmobile
• Snowshoe 
• Local history, culture & storytelling

You do not need to be an expert in everything. We are looking for people with different backgrounds and specialist skills who together can create a strong and versatile guide team.

ABOUT ÆVENTYR

Æventyr is an Alta-based adventure company creating authentic Arctic experiences throughout Finnmark.

During winter, our guests join us in search of the Northern Lights, travel by snowmobile across Finnmarksvidda, experience whales in the Arctic fjords, explore the winter landscape on snowshoes and discover great histories through storytelling and food.

Our adventure ranges from scheduled group tours ,to private journeys and tailor-made experiences.

For us, guiding is much more than getting from A to B. A great guide is a host, storyteller, safety leader and experience creator.

YOUR ROLE AS A GUIDE

No two days in the Arctic are exactly the same.

One day you may be guiding guests across Finnmarksvidda by snowmobile, another leading a snowshoe tour through the winter landscape, sharing stories around a fire, searching for the Northern Lights or helping guests understand the wildlife and landscapes they experience at sea.

As part of our guide team, you will be responsible for creating safe, professional and memorable experiences from the moment you meet the guests until the tour is completed.

Your work may include:

• Guiding our winter activities
• Welcoming and taking care of guests
• Transporting guests as part of our guided experiences
• Sharing stories about the nature, wildlife, history and life in Northern Norway
• Preparing and completing tours
• Conducting safety briefings and following operational procedures
• Adapting tours to weather, snow conditions and individual guests
• Working both independently and together with other guides and departments within Æventyr

Working hours vary and include days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Flexibility is therefore an important part of working as a winter guide.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with people and who are curious about the place they guide in.

You may already be an experienced Arctic guide, a natural storyteller, a wildlife enthusiast, an outdoor professional, or have specialist experience that would strengthen our team.

Requirements

• Previous guiding, tourism, hospitality or relevant outdoor experience
• Strong communication and storytelling skills
• A genuine interest in Arctic nature, wildlife, history and/or culture
• Fluent English; Scandinavian and additional languages are an advantage
• Valid Class B driving licence
• Valid Norwegian Passenger Transport Driver's Permit (Kjøreseddel for persontransport), or the ability to obtain one before starting work
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• A service-minded, responsible and safety-focused approach
• Minimum 18 years of age
• The right to work in Norway for the relevant employment period

Please note: Transporting guests is an important part of many of our guided experiences. Guides who drive guests are therefore required to hold a Norwegian Kjøreseddel for persontransport in accordance with Norwegian regulations. International applicants should be prepared to complete the required process in Norway before starting work.

Relevant outdoor education, first aid training and previous Arctic/winter experience are strong advantages.

For snowmobile guides, documented snowmobile experience and the relevant licence/permit to operate a snowmobile in Norway are required.

For whale and wildlife guides, we particularly value knowledge of marine wildlife, Arctic ecosystems and responsible wildlife tourism.

For Northern Lights guides, experience with aurora guiding and the ability to communicate the science, stories and local perspectives connected to the Northern Lights are highly valued.

For snowshoe and wilderness guides, we value experience leading groups outdoors in winter conditions, good knowledge of winter safety and the ability to create engaging experiences through nature, local stories and life around the fire.

Above all, we are looking for guides who understand that the story you tell, the way you meet your guests and the atmosphere you create can be just as important as the activity itself.
