Our client offers deep expertise with respect to Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems in the intelligent infrastructure and transportation space. They have developed a number of unique technical innovations incorporated into a central AI platform that enables them to provide high-integrity 3D digital twins for real-time actionable insights across a variety of applications and use cases in both mobile (moving sensor suites on vehicles) and fixed (wayside) scenarios.

About the role:

As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you will own our clients flagship Vehicle Occupancy Detection product. This product has consistently outperformed competitors in comparative testing conducted by public agencies and private operators worldwide.

You will contribute to taking this market leading product to the next level. You will prioritize features and functionality, set targets for the development team and manage deployments. You will participate in the daily stand-ups, relay information to the technical team. You will play a pivotal role in the company, managing their product roadmap and projects to impress the customers and maximise market growth.


What you will be doing:

  • Manage the complete product life cycle from concept to end of life.
  • Translate marketing roadmap and business priorities into detailed business requirements; collaborate cross functionally and with external vendors as appropriate; manage through development lifecycle and enterprise governance processes.
  • Identify and analyze opportunities to strengthen product performance and profitability. Lead the development of business cases to support new product introductions and innovations. Champion the initiatives across stakeholder groups, with end-to-end accountability; manage all aspects including initiation, planning, execution, process development, business readiness.
  • Oversee implementation ensuring the timely and quality execution and delivery to cross functional stakeholders, sales channels and customers.
  • Seek out alternative solutions or workflow enhancements to deliver interim solutions in advance of full product readiness, system development or integration.
  • Support Customer Solution Engineers by delivering formal presentations to customer groups.

What you will bring:

  • Masters in Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering with a focus on mechatronics preferred;
  • Solid industry experience in one of these domains: intelligent transportation systems (ITS), robotics, automotive or embedded systems;
  • Solid Experience in Computer Aided Design (preferably SolidWorks);
  • Experience with C++ and Python;
  • Solid understanding of networking (layers, IP, communication protocols, remote access), and cybersecurity (VPN, authentication and encryption);
  • Systems Engineering knowledge and technical documentation, and experience working with suppliers and integrators;
  • Field engineering experience (including installation of components) or experience running mechatronic demos in front of customers/clients (beyond internal lab tests);
  • Leadership and project management capabilities
  • Strategic Planning and Operational Execution Skills
  • Collaborative and Strong Communication Skills
  • Willing to work in Toronto downtown office
  • Open to travelling for work (minimum 4 weeks per year).

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on with mechanical and electrical tools, and experience with manufacturing and fabrication processes;
  • Software productizing experience in Linux (C++ compilers, CMake, unit/integration testing, docker, git);
  • Previous exposure to real-time middleware frameworks, multi-threading and multi-processing;
  • Professional working proficiency in French (Written and Spoken);
  • Exposure to machine learning frameworks (pytorch, tensorflow, Keras, etc), data and cloud tools (AWS, dvc, etc);
  • Previous exposure to simulation, visualization and graphics rendering tools (e.g. Unreal Engine, CARLA or equivalents);
  • User Experience Focused and ability to ensure they get the results they need in product
  • Comfortable driving vehicles in Canada (Ontario G license) and internationally.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
