QA Lead - Automation

 Job Description:

AdvoTek Recruitment is sourcing a Full-Time Quality Assurance Lead with an Automated focus starting in June 2023 for our trusted client. The client, a financial services firm located in midtown Toronto, has a solid history of continued customer success and increased technology innovation within finance, Investment, and Insurance.

Our client is offering a base salary of up to 120K dependent upon experience, a performance-based bonus that historically exceeds the target, 3 weeks vacation, benefits, and a Defined Contribution plan to start. This role is currently hybrid with 2-3 days on-site at the midtown GTA location within the next 2 quarters expected (currently remote) , plenty of parking, and just off the DVP.  The workweek is 40 hours with some possibility of OT and the flexibility to participate in calls with offshore resources during non-standard office hours.

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, PMO, the Quality Assurance (QA) Lead will be responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling assigned project testing activities and tasks and creating various testing artifacts. The QA Lead will work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Project Architects, Business Stakeholders, and External Vendors to ensure the client's  Quality Assurance and Testing best practices are followed on projects.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide overall end-to-end test management support to enable successful project delivery
  • Lead and perform the following tasks on assigned projects:
    • Provide accurate QA effort estimation to the Project Manager
    • Develop the projects test strategy/test plan and provide a walkthrough to the project team
    • Work closely with Project Architects/Business Analysts/Business Systems Analysts/Business Subject Matter Experts in identifying test data and batch cycle plans
    • Act as overall testing liaison and first point of escalation for the project team
    • Maintain and utilize test and defect management tools (MF ALM and Microsoft Azure) for test management and traceability/auditing purposes
    • Ensure project deliverables meet business requirements, and there are no adverse effects on the existing production business environments.
  • Lead and mentor onshore as well as offshore QA team members' test efforts for Functional Testing, System Integration (SIT), Regression, and UAT phases

What is your ideal experience?

  • 3 to 5 years in a QA Lead Test Automation role engaged in project delivery
  • Experience with Mainframe, Client Server, Web, and Mobile applications in a complex, integrated environment
  • Experience with automated testing tools (E.g., Eggplant, Selenium, SmartBear, etc.) and establishing an automated testing practice
  • Experience with SoapUI and ReadyAPI testing
  • Experience in implementing automated testing frameworks (Module Based, Data-Driven, Keyword-Driven, etc)
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating Test Automation scripts into these pipelines
  • Strong knowledge/experience with DevOps.
  • Experience with Robotic Process Automation platforms, e.g., UiPath, BluePrism, Automation Anywhere
  • Experience with mobile test automation, using tools such as Appium
  • Knowledge of Programming concepts like file handling, exception handling, database operations, and OOP (Object-Oriented Programming) concepts.
  • Must be able to create and execute test cases using Selenium WebDriver and IDE (Integrated Development Environment)
  • Working knowledge of database management tools, such as MS SQL Server Management Studio
  • Experience with testing applications that rely on overnight batch processes
  • Experience working with Onshore and Offshore development and test teams
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure Test Plan module and MF Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills displayed in the development and execution of test plans and the analysis of system problems and appropriate escalation
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, documentation, and reporting skills
  • Strong Leadership Skills - will build a team and propel the company along its automation journey. Leading a team, engaging, and presenting proposals/reports to our Sr Management team is critical for the candidate to succeed in this role.
  • Experience working on Agile projects
