Role Overview

We are looking for a Property Accountant to oversee the organization's financial operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and sound fiscal management. This role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury operations, general ledger oversight, financial analysis, and strategic planning to support business objectives. The position will manage audits, maintain compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable accounting standards, identify and mitigate financial risks, and drive process improvements through effective use of financial systems and reporting tools. Additionally, the Finance Manager will lead and mentor the finance team while supporting long-term profitability and operational excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Oversee budgeting processes, forecast financial performance, and implement cost control measures to maximize profitability across multifamily properties.
  • Manage treasury functions such as cash flow analysis, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations to ensure liquidity and fiscal stability.
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies related to financial operations, regulatory compliance, and market fluctuations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for audits, ensure adherence to regulatory reporting standards including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), and maintain comprehensive documentation for governmental and non-profit accounting requirements.
  • Supervise general ledger accounting, account analysis, cost accounting, and account reconciliation activities to uphold data integrity.
  • Drive strategic planning initiatives by analyzing financial concepts, investment opportunities, and revenue management strategies aligned with corporate finance goals.
  • Utilize advanced financial software tools for accurate bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing.
  • Lead team efforts in financial management training, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in financial acumen across the organization.

Required Qualifications 

  • Proven experience in corporate accounting with a strong background in governmental or non-profit accounting preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of IAS (International Accounting Standards), IFRS, GAAP, ASC 606 standards, and technical accounting practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk management, risk analysis, and compliance management within real estate or property management sectors.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing finance teams or cross-functional departments focused on financial planning and analysis.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems such as ERP platforms or specialized real estate management tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making.
  • Prior experience in budgeting, forecasting, investment management, cost management, and revenue recognition is highly desirable.
