Job Summary
To oversee and well manage day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery sections with cultivating new ideas, creativities and technologies.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage all the day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen.
- Make an extensive variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, tarts, bread etc. following both the traditional and modern recipes.
- Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends.
- Assists in the development and implementation of culinary training programs (cooking, service methods, and techniques) for all food production area.
- Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques. Guide and motivate Pastry Assistants during their training process.
- Reviewing staffing levels to meet service, operational, and financial objectives.
- Performing administrative tasks, taking stock of food and equipment supplies and handling customer problems and complaints
Qualification and Experience
- Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field.
- Moderate Physical Ability with minimum 4 years of proven experience working within the food industry as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or relevant role. Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process.
- Great attention to detail and creativity. Developing new recipes for seasonal menus. Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment. Able to recognize superior quality products, presentations and flavors.
- Basic Safety Precautions: The kitchen environment poses risks, so Pastry Chef is required to assess physical hazards and risks and follow or respond to these hazards efficiently. Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations. In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition. Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary.
- Good communication skills. In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition.
- Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and cooperate with co-workers efficiently and effectively. Cross check if the quality material and equipment are being used or not. Direct and motivate helpers and bakers to work more professionally
