Job Summary

As part of the legal management function, oversee the resolution of all in-house legal matters for each country.

Salary: $200.000 - $250.000/year

General Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the departmental operating budgets and expenses in line with the yearly allocation to ensure effective resource utilization, when applicable.
  • Handle the legal matters/documentation within the country and resolve legal issues related to governance, compliance, code of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, etc.
  • Provide guidance to the country on corporate, commercial, capital market, intellectual property (IP), competition, labor, and M&A laws, as well as governmental/administrative procedures for managing legal implications related to business.
  • Direct and carry out due diligence processes and activities within the country to ensure a systematic approach to legal management.
  • Manage lawsuits/arbitrations, engage with external legal counsels, and represent the country in legal proceedings to safeguard DKSH's interests.
  • Investigate, produce reports, and identify any legal risks, along with recommending measures to mitigate these risks from a country-centric perspective.
  • Oversee and execute legal/compliance projects at the country level to address areas requiring change and enhancement.
  • Handle dealings with the government regarding licensing, state documentation, approvals, etc. as part of managing local government affairs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on all legal matters. Gain deeper insight into financial, tax, compliance processes, etc. to enhance the quality of legal advice provided.
  • Cultivate and uphold lasting relationships with external legal advisors/legal community in order to stay updated on laws, regulations, and best practices.

Functional Skills And Knowledge

  • Display a strong understanding of the business and industry
  • Exhibit strong knowledge of corporate law, contract and commercial law, including laws specific to each country
  • Show fluency in English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in another language is an added advantage
  • Show understanding and respect for cultural sensitivities, particularly in cross-country/culture interactions
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with integrity
  • Show understanding of how to adapt the law within the cultural and legal framework of different countries

Educational Background: Degree in Law from a reputable university
