Role Overview:

Strategic Leadership: Shape the strategic direction for the organizations SHE function, aligning it with overall company goals and directing resources toward achieving key SHE objectives.

Excellence in Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards: Lead the development and implementation of top-tier SHE standards, ensuring full regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO standards) across all business units and establishing a framework for incident communication and prevention.

Team Development and Leadership: Inspire, motivate, and guide the SHE team to exceed goals, fostering high engagement and building a robust internal leadership pipeline. Cultivate a positive, high-performance work culture within the SHE function and across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Define and implement the strategic direction for the organizations SHE initiatives.
  • Work closely with leaders in Sustainability, Corporate Communications, Procurement, Finance, and HR to align SHE strategies with the broader company agenda.
  • Design and recommend an improvement plan for the SHE roadmap, ensuring effective programs for the safety, health, and well-being of all employees, contractors, and visitors across all locations.
  • Develop KPIs for SHE in collaboration with Manufacturing Leads, Plant Managers, and SHE Compliance Leads, ensuring active monitoring and timely actions for continuous improvement.

2. SHE Standards, Health, Safety, and Environmental Programs

  • Develop, standardize, and implement SHE policies, standards, and processes across the organization, integrating best practices and learnings from past implementations.
  • Partner with Plant SHE Managers to assess certification needs (e.g., ISO) and ensure required certifications are achieved and maintained.
  • Manage the development and rollout of health, safety, and environmental impact reduction initiatives across the organization.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to establish and regularly update a business continuity plan, incorporating risk management and compliance updates as required.

3. Compliance and Auditing

  • Foster collaboration between Group SHE functions and plant management to ensure SHE policy implementation and adherence to the strategic roadmap.
  • Validate inspection outcomes from compliance leads and coordinate corrective and preventive actions for identified issues (e.g., emergency preparedness, emissions management).
  • Oversee preparation for major external audits and manage internal audit schedules and inspections across facilities.

4. Incident Management and Response

  • Support Plant SHE teams in managing serious incidents, ensuring comprehensive investigation, communication, and actions to prevent recurrence.

5. Capability Development, Training, and Communication

  • Assess and manage SHE competency requirements and design appropriate interventions to ensure capability consistency across locations.
  • Approve and oversee the design and implementation of organization-wide SHE training, ensuring all employees receive effective onboarding and continuing education on SHE standards.
  • Monitor the progress of SHE training programs, including Train-the-Trainer sessions, across all facilities.

6. Additional Operations

  • Conduct due diligence for SHE in potential acquisitions.
  • Oversee selection and management of SHE digital tools for use across plants and ensure high-impact projects (e.g., fire protection systems) are on track and properly resourced.
  • Provide input on any operational changes or projects affecting safety, health, and environment.

7. Leadership and Team Development

  • Inspire and drive the SHE team to meet and exceed performance targets, creating an environment that prioritizes health, safety, and environmental stewardship.
  • Manage and develop a team of 50+ people, ensuring open communication and a collaborative work culture.
  • Foster talent attraction, development, and retention within the SHE team, working closely with HR to support employee satisfaction.
  • Mentor and develop high-potential team members, focusing on succession planning, skills enhancement, and leadership development.

  • Skilled at making balanced, difficult decisions with a strategic perspective.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional and plant leadership.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
