Data Center Engineer CW/ FIRE (Civil Works & Fire Protection)

Responsibilities

  • Civil Works Design and Construction:

Design, implement, and oversee civil engineering projects, including site grading, drainage systems, foundation design, and road infrastructure for data center facilities.

Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and construction teams to ensure civil work components meet data center operational and safety requirements.

Ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and other relevant standards.

Conduct site assessments to evaluate site conditions, including soil, water, and geotechnical conditions.

  • Fire Protection Engineering:

Design, install, and maintain fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, fire suppression, smoke detection) for data center facilities.

Perform risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize fire hazards.

Ensure fire protection systems comply with relevant fire codes and industry standards, including NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes.

Provide expertise on fire protection systems and manage inspections, testing, and maintenance schedules.

  • Coordinate with teams to ensure civil and fire protection aspects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Ensure designs comply with safety regulations and standards, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Identify risks, lead safety training, and ensure minimal disruption to operations.

Position requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, fire protection engineering, or related fields, with at least 2 years of experience in data center projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software related to civil and fire protection systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, IBC, UL, local fire codes).
  • Strong project management skills, including budget management, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
  • Large-scale data center (over 500 racks) consulting, design or project management experiences are highly appreciated
  • § Strong communication, presentation, listening, and negotiation skills.

  • § Willing to travel in Global, especially Asia-Pacific Region

Professional Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles for data center infrastructure, including site grading, drainage, and foundation systems.
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, suppression, and alarm systems, and their design standards.
  • Familiar with relevant fire safety codes, including NFPA standards and local regulations.
  • Certification in Fire Protection Engineering or similar qualifications is preferred.
  • Familiar with data center eco-system for mainstream vendors and its products, technologies.
