About the job Design & Development Manager

Job Description Key Areas:

Team Leadership:

Lead, motivate, and manage a team of 7 Furniture Draughtsmen to achieve departmental goals and objectives.

Research, Design and Development:

Drive the research, design and development activities to continuously improve existing products and develop new innovative designs. Work closely with Customers design team to understand the design requirements and initiate the prototype.

Product Design:

Oversee the conceptualization, design, and development of RTA furniture products that meet market needs, quality standards, and cost targets.

Prototype Development:

Coordinate the creation of prototypes for new product concepts, ensuring functionality, durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Teamwork:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Production, and Quality Assurance to ensure seamless integration of new products into the manufacturing process.

Market Analysis:

Stay abreast of industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for product innovation.

Budget Management:

Manage the R&D budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to support project timelines and objectives.

Compliance:

Ensure all designs and products comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial design, or related field.
  • Proven experience in furniture design and development, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including planning, and resource allocation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials used in furniture production.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Chinese candidate is a must, this role needs to communicate with designers from China (may require occasional travel)
