QC Chemist Carbon Black

Role Overview:
Responsible for establishing and managing Quality Control (QC) operations for a Carbon Black manufacturing facility from the project phase (construction and commissioning of QC infrastructure) through ongoing plant operations. Ensures lab testing, calibration, and quality compliance aligned with international and NABL standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee lab setup, testing, and calibration for raw materials (CBFS, oils), in-process, and finished products.

  • Maintain testing accuracy, documentation, and lab quality management as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and NABL standards.

  • Support production teams by ensuring timely testing, product allocation, and dispatch of on-spec materials.

  • Implement global safety standards, ensure PPE compliance, and conduct on-job safety training.

  • Coordinate with internal teams (Process, Logistics, HSE, Purchase, etc.) and external stakeholders (suppliers, calibration labs, customers).

Challenges & Goals:

  • Set up and operate QC systems in a greenfield environment.

  • Reduce customer complaints, sustain preferred supplier status, and improve international lab proficiency ratings.

  • Maintain NABL accreditation and enhance testing precision.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemistry or related science.

  • 3-6 years experience in Quality Control, ideally with Carbon Black or chemical industries.

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, lab equipment calibration, and statistical QC tools.

  • Strong documentation, coordination, and customer-focused mindset.

  • Open to working in greenfield project environments; occasional travel to customer or supplier sites.

Preferred Industry Background:
Carbon Black, Chemicals, Pigments, Paints, Petroleum, Cement, or Water Treatment.
