Medical Transcriptionist
Job Description:
We are in search of a detail-oriented and proficient Medical Transcriptionist to become part of our healthcare team. The role involves transcribing medical recordings into precise and comprehensive written documents, maintaining clarity and adherence to healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately transcribe recorded medical dictations from healthcare professionals into written documents. Ensure that transcripts are clear, complete, and error-free.
- Utilize comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, and jargon to ensure accurate transcription of clinical information.
- Review and edit transcriptions for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, and formatting before finalizing and submitting documents. Ensure all documents meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and organize electronic and paper files of transcribed documents. Ensure proper handling and confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate with healthcare professionals to clarify any unclear or ambiguous dictations. Seek additional information as needed to ensure accurate transcription.
- Use medical transcription software and electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively to manage and store transcriptions. Troubleshoot basic issues with transcription tools or software.
- Meet deadlines for transcription tasks and prioritize workload to ensure timely delivery of medical documents. Manage multiple transcription requests efficiently.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and privacy policies regarding patient information. Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Stay updated on advancements in medical transcription technology and best practices. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills.
- Ensure all transcription work complies with medical and legal standards, including accuracy, completeness, and adherence to practice-specific guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Certification in medical transcription (e.g., CMT, RMT) is preferred.
- Proven experience in medical transcription or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent listening and typing skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using medical transcription software and EHR systems.
- Strong written communication skills, including grammar and punctuation.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other compliance standards related to medical documentation.
