Activus Recruitment is assisting our client in sourcing a technician to join their technical department at their depot in Dufftown, Moray. You will be involved in testing aggregates, asphalt, concrete and lime materials.

Duties:

Responsible under supervision for completing the day-to-day sampling, testing, and reporting requirements as per the quality management system and according to the relevant standards and guidance.

Main Tasks

Sampling and Testing

  • Perform sampling and testing of aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and lime materials daily, adhering to required standards.
  • Maintain weekly test rates above the minimum requirements outlined in the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Follow quality management systems and use the latest British standards and guidance during sampling, testing, and reporting.

Reporting and Communication

  • Report issues and findings to the Technical Supervisor promptly.
  • Process test results for analysis and record them on appropriate trends as soon as possible.
  • Raise non-conformance reports to the Technical Supervisor/management and implement corrective actions.

Mentorship and Auditing

  • Mentor assigned technicians, providing advice and support for their training and skill development.
  • Conduct technical audits as per the audit plan to ensure accurate sampling and testing practices.

Equipment Maintenance and Calibration

  • Use only calibrated equipment for sampling and testing.
  • Regularly clean, inspect, and maintain testing equipment, reporting and removing any damaged or unserviceable items.
  • Perform routine equipment calibrations to ensure proper functionality.

Housekeeping and Vehicle Maintenance

  • Participate in daily laboratory housekeeping, ensuring clean floors, worktops, and surrounding areas.
  • Clean Technical Services vehicles weekly, both inside and out, and complete vehicle defect sheets daily.
  • Report unsafe vehicles immediately and ensure they are removed from service.

Client and Contract Support

  • Act as the primary technical contact for major contracts when required, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Collect and prepare samples for external testing as directed.

Operational Flexibility

  • Cover other Technical Services roles as needed, based on experience and training.
  • Support teamwork among colleagues and assist in operational meetings.

Representation

  • Serve as an ambassador for the company, maintaining polite and professional communication with visitors, customers, and staff.

Other Duties

  • Undertake additional tasks appropriate to your experience and competency as directed.
