About the job Chair in the Division of Science and Technology
ACT (American College of Thessaloniki), the tertiary division of Anatolia College, is seeking a dynamic educator/leader to fill the position of Chair in the Science and Technology Division.
The position is full-time for one year and may be renewable upon agreement of all parties. The successful candidate will directly report to the Academic Dean and have a record of professional experience that demonstrates the ability to undertake the following:
- Develop a mission that supports the particular goals of the Division and ACT’s broader goals.
Build strong relationships with the community.
- Represent the interests of the Science & Technology Division to ACT’s administration and outside constituencies.
- Provide a key communication link between the ACT administration and Division faculty.
Develop partnerships with other universities.
Promote excellence in teaching, research and service.
- Oversee the departmental assessment process and conduct periodic program reviews.
Oversee accreditation & validation reviews.
Drive program development, evaluation and growth.
Oversee external grants, special programs and development projects.
- Coordinate the division’s curricula with the relevant coordinator(s).
Assist in hiring new faculty.
Oversee faculty development and evaluation.
Assist in new student recruitment.
Oversee retention of majors.
Oversee student affairs, including advising and internships.
Develop and monitor the Division budget.
Position Requirements
- A doctoral Degree in an academic area that relates to the Science and Technology division. Preference will be given to candidates with background in the broad area of computing.
- Demonstrated record of academic and professional achievement in higher education.
- Demonstrated record of successful leadership and administrative experience in academic settings.
Excellent command of the English language.
- Excellence in oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interest and experience in developing partnerships with schools in the US and with the community in Greece.
- Demonstrated teaching experience and ability to teach in one of the areas offered by the Science and Technology Division. A minimum of six years of university/college level teaching experience or other relevant work experience is required. University/College level teaching experience at a US-accredited higher education institution is preferred.
- Scholarly productivity and experience in attracting and managing funded research at national, international and European levels will be considered an advantage.
