Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Long-Term Care

Job Summary: We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our long-term care facility. As a CNA in the long-term care setting, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to residents who require assistance with their activities of daily living. Your primary responsibility will be to promote the physical and emotional well-being of residents while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. This position requires empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to providing personalized care for our residents.

Responsibilities:

  1. Personal Care: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility, while preserving their privacy and dignity.
  2. Vital Signs Monitoring: Regularly measure and record residents' vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and respiration, and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
  3. Assistance with Eating and Drinking: Provide assistance and support to residents during meal times, including feeding, monitoring dietary requirements, and encouraging proper nutrition and hydration.
  4. Ambulation and Transfers: Assist residents with mobility needs, including transferring them between beds, chairs, and other surfaces using appropriate lifting and transfer techniques.
  5. Emotional Support: Offer companionship and emotional support to residents, actively engaging in conversation, listening attentively, and providing reassurance and comfort.
  6. Observation and Reporting: Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or mental condition to the nursing staff, ensuring prompt attention to their healthcare needs.
  7. Safety and Infection Control: Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, including infection control measures, proper hand hygiene, and adherence to safety protocols.
  8. Documentation: Accurately document residents' care activities, vital signs, and observations in their medical records or electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure coordinated and holistic care for residents.
  10. Resident Advocacy: Advocate for residents' rights, preferences, and needs, ensuring their voices are heard and respected in their care planning and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

  • Valid and current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of practice.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing care principles and practices.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and person-centered care to residents with varying levels of dependency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks that involve standing, walking, lifting, and transferring residents.
  • Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude towards elderly and disabled individuals.
  • Understanding of infection control protocols and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
