Overview
Inner West Council seeks a motivated Horticulturist to maintain and enhance public spaces, including sports fields, turf wickets, and garden beds. This role involves performing a range of horticultural and maintenance services while upholding Workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
This is a 12-month supported program, in which you will receive continuous assistance throughout this journey.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Services
- Maintain sports fields, turf wickets, and garden beds.
- Perform street cleaning, including mowing, planting, mulching, fertilising, spraying herbicides/pesticides, and watering.
Horticultural and Landscaping Services
- Provide horticultural and landscaping services, including mowing, planting, mulching, fertilising, spraying herbicides/pesticides, and watering.
Planning and Execution
- Plan and interpret instructions provided by maintenance teams to ensure tasks are completed effectively.
Equipment Maintenance
- Conduct general cleaning and maintenance of trucks and plant equipment.
Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Commit to Workplace Health, Safety, and Environmental Systems, adhering to council policies and guidelines.
Key Attributes and Selection Criteria
Essential
- Willingness to complete a Certificate III in Horticulture.
- Genuine interest in the field and enjoyment of working in outdoor environments.
- Physical capacity to walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive tasks as required.
- Ability to represent Inner West Council professionally when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude toward teamwork.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and a willingness to learn and apply them effectively.
