Job Purpose:

To manage and oversee the company's accounting and management information systems, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with internal and external requirements. The Financial Controller is responsible for producing accurate financial reports, supporting budget preparation, coordinating financial data submissions, and advising management on financial implications of trading practices and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Manage and maintain all accounting and management information systems, ensuring accurate and timely production of financial reports in accordance with the Groups timetable.
    • Implement and oversee robust internal control systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with all regulatory and company policies.
    • Produce additional ad hoc management information to support company performance and decision-making.
    • Advise branch and group management on the financial implications of current and proposed trading practices.
    • Support branch and departmental management in preparing revenue and capital budgets, ensuring coordination and timely submission of budget data within established guidelines.
    • Consolidate financial data for half-yearly and annual accounts, including tax computations, to meet Group reporting deadlines.
    • Provide financial and commercial insights for senior management and the main board regarding potential acquisitions or disposals, ensuring thorough assessment and availability of relevant information.
    • Ensure compliance with all company and trade association policies, procedures, and standards, as well as statutory requirements, including trading standards, fire, health and safety regulations.
    • Supervise subordinate accounting staff, ensuring their duties are performed accurately and efficiently, and address any performance issues with the appropriate supervisor.
    • Maintain high standards of customer and supplier interactions, delivering an exceptional experience consistent with the brands reputation.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.
    • CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior role.
    • Proven track record of managing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls within a corporate environment.

    Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and accounting principles.
    • Proficiency in financial software and management information systems.
