Our client Gough Square is recognised as the leading set for consumer law and consumer finance. Members of chambers are recognised as leading practitioners in these areas as well as in life sciences regulatory, banking and finance, environment, health and safety, inquests and inquiries and local government. They are seeking a Junior Clerk with a minimum 6 months experience. 

Applicants will need to be educated to A level standard (minimum 2 A levels) or above and be articulate, able to demonstrate initiative and work as a team player. This is a busy and demanding role and the ability to perform accurately under pressure is essential. You will have excellent I.T. and communication skills, be flexible, have a positive attitude and possess the ability to learn quickly and to adapt to new processes.

Hours: 8.5 hours per working day (inclusive of lunch breaks and breaks) within Chambers opening hours of 8.30 am and 6.15 pm.

Principle duties include:

General Clerking:

  • Answering telephones and dealing with clients
  • Updating barrister diaries, entering time recording and case data within the LEX system
  • Attending listing appointments in divisions of the High Court
  • Liaising with listing officers to fix matters in the Crown Court
  • Lodging documents at Court
  • Liaising with solicitors regarding the return of papers
  • Locating authorities online and within libraries and assisting with preparation of bundles
  • Photocopying and printing documents
  • Efficient management and distribution of incoming emails
  • Assisting with and attending chambers marketing events
  • Franking post and managing DX
  • Delivering documents to DX
  • General administrative duties

The list of duties is not exhaustive, and chambers expect all clerks to deal with any other day to day tasks as reasonably requested.
