Salary: £27,600

Our client, a leading Commercial set with a reputation for excellence, is seeking a Junior Clerk to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist in the day to day running of the clerks room, undertake court runs and complete administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking to begin their career in chambers.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and assisting the senior clerks and members of chambers with their day-to-day administrative requirements
  • Dealing with daily Court runs
  • Answering the telephones and correctly relaying messages
  • Efficient management and distribution of incoming communications, urgent papers/instructions
  • Ensuring members of Chambers have everything they need for court hearings, and arbitration proceedings to run smoothly.
  • Fixing hearings at court
  • Assisting the clerking team with the administration of Chambers
  • Maintaining stationery and office supplies
  • Sourcing case authorities to collate authority bundles and the general Management, printing, scanning and organisation of court bundles
  • Lodging and exchange of skeleton arguments
  • General office duties

Candidate Specification:

  • Enthusiastic and keen to develop a career within Chambers.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both spoken and written English.
  • Capable of working effectively with colleagues, Chambers members, and professional clients.
  • Adaptable and conscientious with the ability to think on their feet.

Further details:

Salary: £27,600

Salary payment date: 25th Monthly in arrears.

Contract hours: 40 hours per week. Shift patterns between 0800 and 1900. 0800 1800 or 0900-1800 or 0900 to 1900. 1900 is likely to be only once per week most weeks

Probation period: 3 months from the commencement date.

Annual Leave: 22 days per annum to be taken in court vacation unless otherwise agreed.

Benefits: Interest free season ticket loan; clothing allowance (£200 twice a year); discretionary performance related bonus on or around September; discretionary Christmas bonus; (all subject to satisfactory completion of probation period).
