Role Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished Senior FinOps Engineer to lead cloud financial management initiatives. This pivotal role involves strategizing and implementing cost optimization practices across multi-cloud environments, ensuring financial efficiency, and fostering a culture of cost-awareness within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cloud cost management, demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, and excel in cross-functional collaboration. Fluency in both Arabic and English is essential to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Cost Optimization:
Analyze and monitor cloud expenditures across platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising performance or reliability, implementing strategies like right-sizing, reserved instances, and efficient resource utilization. - FinOps Strategy Development:
Develop and enforce FinOps best practices to enhance cost visibility, accountability, and efficiency. Collaborate with engineering, finance, and product teams to integrate financial considerations into cloud architecture and deployment decisions. - Budgeting and Forecasting:
Work closely with finance teams to create accurate cloud cost forecasts and budgets. Implement chargeback/showback mechanisms to allocate costs appropriately and promote responsible resource consumption. - Reporting and Automation:
Design and automate comprehensive reporting systems to provide real-time insights into cloud spending. Utilize tools such as Power BI, Excel, and cloud-native analytics platforms to inform stakeholders and drive data-driven decisions. - Governance and Compliance:
Establish and maintain governance policies for cloud usage, including tagging strategies, cost allocation models, and compliance with internal financial controls and external regulatory requirements. - Stakeholder Engagement and Training:
Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex financial data into actionable insights. Conduct training sessions to promote a cost-conscious culture and ensure adherence to FinOps principles across the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are advantageous. - Professional Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud financial management, FinOps, or related roles, with a proven track record of optimizing cloud costs and implementing financial governance structures. - Technical Proficiency:
In-depth knowledge of cloud services and billing models across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Experience with cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability, Apptio, CloudHealth, or AWS Cost Explorer. - Analytical Skills:
Strong capability in data analysis and financial modeling, with proficiency in tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and Power BI. Ability to interpret complex datasets and present findings clearly to stakeholders. - Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making processes. - Collaboration and Leadership:
Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration between finance, engineering, and product departments to achieve financial efficiency goals. - Problem-Solving Abilities:
Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation in cloud financial management practices.
Preferred Certifications:
- FinOps Certified Practitioner:
Demonstrates expertise in cloud financial management and optimization strategies. - AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner:
Validates foundational understanding of AWS cloud services and their cost structures. - Google Cloud Digital Leader:
Indicates proficiency in articulating the capabilities of Google Cloud core products and services. - Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900):
Confirms basic knowledge of Azure cloud services and pricing models.
