Senior Data & AI Strategy & Governance Lead – Colombia & Brazil

Role Overview

Abacus is seeking a Senior Data & AI Strategy & Governance Lead to help shape and mature our Data & AI practice across LATAM.

This is a strategic leadership role focused on AI governance, risk management, and enterprise advisory, rather than hands-on model development. The ideal candidate will drive AI maturity, establish responsible AI frameworks, and serve as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data & AI Strategy Leadership

  • Define and elevate Data & AI best practices across engineering and consulting teams.
  • Establish scalable governance models aligned with enterprise and regulatory expectations.
  • Conduct AI capability assessments and produce maturity gap analyses.
  • Guide internal teams toward modern, state-of-the-art AI standards.

2. AI Governance & Responsible AI

  • Lead development of Responsible AI frameworks and governance playbooks.
  • Define policies for model security, privacy, compliance, and risk management.
  • Design guardrails for agentic AI and emerging AI architectures.
  • Ensure alignment with global standards for ethical AI deployment.

3. Executive Advisory & Pre-Sales Support

  • Act as a senior advisor in executive client engagements.
  • Support pre-sales, architecture reviews, and transformation discussions.
  • Present AI strategy and governance roadmaps to C-suite stakeholders.
  • Help articulate compelling enterprise AI value propositions.

4. Mentorship & Practice Development

  • Mentor Data & AI engineers and architects.
  • Uplift technical maturity across projects and engagements.
  • Contribute to internal thought leadership and AI capability building.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 8–10 years of experience in Data, AI, Analytics, Enterprise Architecture, or AI Strategy.
  • Strong hands-on understanding of AI governance, model risk management, and Responsible AI.
  • Experience designing AI frameworks in regulated or enterprise environments.
  • Executive communication and stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to translate complex AI concepts into business outcomes.
  • Experience in consulting or large enterprise environments is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to AI security, model validation, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience advising public sector or enterprise clients.
  • Familiarity with global AI governance standards and regulatory trends.
  • Cloud platform exposure (GCP, Azure, or AWS) is a plus.
