Project Accountant

A5 Talent Finders is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our Oil and Gas client in Houston TX. As a full-time ( Direct Hire) member of the accounting department, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our company. We are looking for a candidate who has a Bachelors Degree or equivalent and at least 5-7 years of experience in accounts receivable, with a strong background in the construction industry.

As an Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and job cost accounting. You must have a deep understanding of construction billing methods, particularly AIA G702/G703 forms, and be familiar with retainage, change orders, lien releases, and job cost accounting. Your experience in a construction environment will be essential in ensuring accurate and timely billing and collections.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of functional experience and a strong understanding of project accounting. You must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently. Strong communication and analytical skills are also necessary to succeed in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage all aspects of accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and job cost accounting

- Ensure timely and accurate billing according to contract terms and AIA G702/G703 forms

- Monitor and track retainage, change orders, and lien releases

- Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies

- Prepare and analyze financial reports related to accounts receivable

- Communicate with clients and internal teams to resolve any billing or collection issues

- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

- Stay updated on industry changes and regulations related to construction billing and accounting

Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in accounting or related field

- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounts receivable, with at least 5 years in a construction environment

- Strong understanding of construction billing methods, especially AIA G702/G703 forms

- Familiarity with retain-age, change orders, lien releases, and job cost accounting

- Experience with project accounting and job costing

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

- Excellent communication and analytical skills

- Detail-oriented and able to work independently

- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
