Junior/ Graduate Structural Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

• The Structures Department successfully delivers bridge, highway, commercial building, retaining wall, marine and other specialty “one-of-a-kind” structures for a wide variety of clients across the country

• Under close supervision, this candidate will perform routine assignments which are clearly defined and require the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures

• Assisting project managers and senior engineers in the development of plans and specifications for bridge and transportation related building projects

• Prepare basic sketches and perform calculations in support of broader engineer activities

• Assisting in development and drafting of CAD details for project design documents

• Participating in project document review and preparing the necessary revisions and correspondence for distribution

• Gather, review and modify information to be used for writing project specifications

• Review vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications

• Perform basic calculations and analysis

• Assist with quantity and cost estimates

• Assist with field work required to support the design of various projects

• Prepare technical studies and reports

• Perform routine engineering functions and other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree from an accredited college/university in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering

• 0-1 year of relevant engineering experience through internships or equivalent. Working knowledge/experience is preferred but not required

• Ability to use 3D AutoCAD and REVIT is essential.  Ability to use Bentley MicroStation is a plus.  Candidates will be assessed on their experience using REVIT and other relevant structural design and analysis computer programs

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
