About the job Business Development Manager
Business Development Manager – Civil Infrastructure & Urban Development
Win the Work That Shapes the Region
Every major road upgrade.
Every subdivision.
Every piece of infrastructure that gets built
Starts with a relationship.
At Durack Civil, growth isn't driven by chasing tenders—it's built through early engagement, trusted relationships, and being in the room before projects go to market.
This is where you come in.
As Business Development Manager, you'll sit at the front end of the business—connecting clients, opportunities, and strategy—helping our client secure the right work across both infrastructure and urban development in SE Queensland.
This Role Isn't About Sales. It's About Access.
This isn't a transactional BD role.
It's about:
- Getting in early with clients before projects are formally released
- Understanding what's coming down the pipeline—and positioning the business ahead of it
- Building trusted relationships with developers, councils, consultants, and delivery partners
- Helping shape opportunities so our client is genuinely competitive when it matters
You'll be the person who ensures the business is:
- Known
- Trusted
- And shortlisted
Why This Role Matters
Our client is growing across two key fronts:
- Urban Development – subdivisions, developer-led projects, repeat client work
- Infrastructure – roads, utilities, and government-led projects
Success in both comes down to one thing: who you know, and when you engage.
Your role is to connect those dots.
You'll:
- Turn relationships into real opportunities
- Feed a high-quality pipeline into the estimating and tendering teams
- Help the business focus on the right work—not just more work
What You'll Be Doing (Day to Day)
No two days will look the same—but your focus will always be on building and converting opportunity.
You'll:
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients across SE QLD
- Developers
- Local and state government agencies
- Consultants and design partners
- Identify upcoming opportunities early—before they hit the market
- Lead client engagement strategies for priority projects
- Coordinate internal go / no-go decisions with leadership
- Work closely with estimators and bid teams to shape winning strategies
- Support submissions with client insight, positioning, and win themes
- Maintain and actively manage a live opportunity pipeline (CRM-driven)
- Represent the business at industry events, briefings, and client meetings
You're not just finding opportunities—you're building the pathway to win them.
What Makes This Role Different
You'll be working across both sides of the business:
- Developer-led urban projects (relationship-driven, repeat work)
- Infrastructure opportunities (more structured, government-facing)
That mix gives you:
- A broader network
- More diverse opportunities
- And the ability to balance short-term wins with long-term positioning
You'll also:
- Work directly with senior leadership
- Have real influence over which projects the business pursues
- See your work translate into projects on the ground
About You
You're someone who understands that in civil construction, relationships drive revenue.
You likely:
- Have experience in business development, client management, or project delivery within civil/infrastructure
- Bring an existing network across SE QLD (developers, councils, consultants, or contractors)
- Know how projects are actually delivered—not just how they're sold
- Are comfortable engaging at all levels—from site teams to executives
- Think strategically about pipeline, not just individual opportunities
- Are proactive, self-driven, and comfortable operating with autonomy
You might come from:
- A civil contractor (BD, PM, or estimator moving into BD)
- A consultancy or developer-side role
- Or an infrastructure delivery background with strong client exposure
What You'll Be Influencing
- Which projects the business pursues
- Which clients become long-term partners
- How the business is positioned in the SE QLD market
- The strength and quality of the forward pipeline
Why Our Client
They are building a strong and growing presence across SE Queensland, with a focus on delivering practical, high-quality civil outcomes.
What that means for you:
- You'll be part of a business that values relationships—not just tender volume
- You'll have the autonomy to build your network and approach
- You'll work closely with experienced delivery teams who can back up what you promise
- You'll have a real impact on growth—not just incremental contribution
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role isn't measured by how many meetings you have.
It looks like:
- Being in the room before projects go to tender
- Building trusted relationships with key clients
- Creating a strong, visible pipeline of opportunities
- Helping the business win the right projects—not just more projects
- Becoming a recognised and respected face of the company in the market
If This Sounds Like You
This is an opportunity to:
- Step into a role with real influence
- Build something—not just maintain it
- And be part of a business that's actively growing across SE QLD
