Mechanical Inspector

Busy Hi-Tech Machine shop in Northwest NJ needs experienced Mechanical QC Inspector for hi-precision close-tolerance work. CMM and/or Faro Arm Experience a Plus.

Mechanical Inspector Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

• 3-5 Years metal machining or quality inspection experience
• Ability to read and understand blue prints & mechanical drawings
• Read and interpret drawings, geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) and dimensional inspection experience
• Prior experience using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and/or Faro Arm is strongly preferred
• Operate and maintain a CMM and/or a Faro Arm
• Experience with CMM programing (OPEN DMIS and PolyWorks) a major plus
• Knowledge in the use of standard measuring instruments
• Proficient in measurement tool usage (micrometer, caliper, comparator, height gauge, etc.)
• Proficient in inspection fixture design and set up
• Perform mechanical, visual, packaging and document Inspection of precision machined parts
• Knowledgeable of accurate inspection techniques
• Complete all required documentation of the inspection results, on handwritten forms, and electronic spreadsheets or data bases, in accordance with company procedures and work instructions
• Identify and document potentially non-conforming product
• Conducts inspections on component parts and fasteners. Assures compliance with specifications and maintains accurate records in accordance with quality control procedures
• Performs first-run, floor and final inspections, as directed, to assure that items meet required standards and conform to manufacturing specifications
• Familiarity with manufacturing safety procedures & practices
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• High school diploma along with additional education & training
• Capable of working in a fast pace environment while maintaining inspection accuracy to print
• Ability to read and write neatly along with basic computer skills (Excel, Word, E-mail)
• Punctual, reliable, and possess a strong work ethic
• Positive attitude and desire to contribute is mandatory
• Read, understand, and follow company procedures and policies
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
• Team player that can step in and work independently while maintaining a clean and safe inspection area.
