Role Description:
The Business Development Director is responsible for building strategic relationships with customers to ensure the long-term growth of the IVD Business Unit, as well as being responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Weston, FL Medix Biochemica site. The site's capabilities include R&D, manufacturing, QC/QA, Logistics, and Supply Chain activities, and employ 18 team members currently.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the strategy and actions of the IVD Biomaterials Business Unit to accelerate growth of the organization
- Co-own financial performance of the business unit with Bu VP and other colleagues
- Manage and build relationships with existing and new customers
- Build a knowledge base of the product portfolio capabilities, and value propositions to properly represent and position Medix externally to customers and suppliers, and internally to key stakeholders and team members
- Through a customer-centric view, advise and assist in developing technological capabilities, know-how, and products that address customer and market demands demands
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management to identify and drive new business opportunities
- Research business opportunities and collaborate with key stakeholders to provide focus and prioritization to the organization
- Identify market and industry trends and communicate with team members
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team in Weston, FL
Your experience and skills:
- MS/MA in marketing, business, or relevant scientific field or BS/BA with proven experience in similar positions
- 5 years' industry work experience, more preferred, but less potentially acceptable if there is an advanced degree - In vitro diagnostic (IVD)experience in clinical chemistry and /or immunoassay market a strong plus
- Experience in leading people through change and growth, working collaboratively as a key member of a high-performing team, and possession of an entrepreneurial mindset
- Self-motivation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate independently a must
- Strong experience in forging partnerships with customers and suppliers
- Prior and proven experience growing a book of business and or leading and growing divisions/business units within an organization
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
- Essential to communicate effectively with external customers and suppliers, as well as internal stakeholders, including colleagues and team members
- Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
- Experience of working in an international environment is a benefit .
